Korea-Finland Business Council was established in October 1989 to promote trade between Finland and Korea and improve contacts between businessmen from both countries. There was a steady expansion of trade between the two countries until 1997 when Korean imports were reduced globally because of the recession. In 1999 the Korean economy seems to be heading towards a recovery and growth. The prospects for expanding trade and industrial and technological co-operation between Finnish and Korean companies are again improving.

The register of the members of Korea-Finnish Business Council is published for the first time since the Council was established more than 10 years ago. The register will become very useful in further improving connections between Finnish and Korean companies and businessmen.

I would like to wish all members of the Council plenty of success in their activities and I hope that the council will continue its important and fruitful work for the Korean -Finnish business community.

Lauri Korpinen, Ambassador of Finland (until May 2004)
